Geek Mob’s roots lie in this most sacred day for those who love comics and graphic novels! The VERY First Geek Mob was just a bunch of us sitting in front of the Downtown Roanoke Library (and they were closed) reading comics…in public.

We asked that people bring comic books to donate to a local youth organization and we had the best time! Here we are below. Well, this year, we are going back to our roots and celebrating International Read Comics in Public Day (on the Saturday after the official day – 8/28/18). We’ll have some comics…you bring some comics and we’ll all just have fun reading. Once were done, we’ll take our comics and donate them to various organizations around town. In the past, we’ve given comics to Hidden Valley Middle School, Catawba Hospital, Libraries and the Rescue Mission! We already have quite a collection started, but we can always use more!

Why don’t you join us on 9/1/18. Bring a blanket and a picnic and just chill out with us reading comics! Salem Library will be providing a tent for shade and arranging some food trucks to be on hand! Check out our event on FACEBOOK for the most up to date information!

See you there!
